Meet Elsy
My name is Elsy, and I have been teaching Haitian culinary classes in Portland for eight years. Through my classes, I teach Oregonians how to use simple, fresh ingredients to amplify the flavors in their dishes.
“Simpler Tastes Better” is my motto.
For this Haitian Thanksgiving Experience, you and I will do exactly that. We’ll cook together, learn together, have plenty of fun, and then sit down with our guests to enjoy the feast we created.
What Are We Cooking?
We’re bringing some of Haiti’s most beloved holiday dishes to the Thanksgiving table:
-
Fried Green Plantains
-
Haitian Pikliz
-
Rice and Beans
-
Haitian Black Rice or Diri Djondjon with lima beans
-
Griot or Twice-cooked pork
-
Kodenn Bourré or Stuffed turkey
-
Haitian Mac and Cheese with ground beef filling
-
Salade Russe or Haitian-style Russian potato salad
-
Pain Patate or Haitian sweet potato cake
-
Haitian Kremas
Yes, we are making all of these delicious dishes together.
What Should You Bring?
Bring a good attitude, an open mind, a smile, and a container for leftovers, just in case!
Come ready to cook, learn, laugh, eat, and experience Haitian cuisine in a fun and memorable way.
I’ll see you Friday, November 13, at 2:00 PM, and your plus-one at 6:15 PM, for an unforgettable Haitian Thanksgiving Experience!
Elsy
