Homemade Papaya Ice Cream using the Creole Me Up Sassy But Sweet Spice Blend
Here is a delicious homemade papaya ice cream recipe you can make using the Creole Me Up Sassy But Sweet Spice Blend. It's so creamy.
You might or might not need to add sugar to your papaya ice cream, but in order to make this decision, you'll need to taste a piece of your papaya.
When making this recipe, please remember my Haitian influence remains in the forefront. Making this ice cream is more of an adventure in flavors you probably aren't used to, but the end result is guaranteed to make you shake your bum.
This recipe also calls for some organic corn syrup to prevent the papaya from crystallizing due to its high-moisture content. Corn is one of the highest processed vegetables in the food industry. Organic corn-derived products are becoming more affordable over time, and that is why it's highly encouraged to stick to "organic:" when consuming corn and corn-derived products.
Ingredients
3 1/2 cups chopped papaya
1/2 cups of finely chopped papaya (to mix in with the ice cream before freezing it)
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1-14oz can condensed milk
1 12-oz evaporated milk
1/4 cup organic corn syrup
1 cup of powdered sugar (or less depending on how sweet the papaya is)
1 teaspoon vanilla paste
2-3 drops of almond extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly-grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon Sassy, But Sweet Creole Me Up Spice Blend
Preparation
In a blender, add the papaya, evaporated milk, powdered sugar, salt, the Sassy But Sweet Spice Blend, lemon zest, and blend. Set the papaya paste aside making sure to coat the top with a layer of powdered sugar to prevent the taste of the papaya from altering. In a mixer, add the heavy whipping cream and whip it for 12 minutes or until it's firm. Mix carefully the condensed milk and organic corn syrup in the whipping cream. Add the papaya paste, vanilla paste, and almond extract and mix gently. Empty the mix in a plastic bowl or ice cream mold, cover it with a lid, and place it in the freezer for 4 to 6 hours. Enjoy!
