When a Zombie Tastes Salt is the story of my deceased mother who was given away to a family member living in the City of Jérémie from Guinaudée. Among the many twists and turns in counting bits and pieces of my mother's journey as a restavèk or child slave, I imagined love stories and I added them in to alleviate the atrocities she went through. What might feel like a novel to the reader is unfortunately the current lifestyle of many Haitian children. Read, cry, and laugh as you try to understand the complexity of little Haitian restavèk children.
